Fire Risk Assessment

Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs coordinates disaster risk reduction and emergency management efforts, which encompass landscape fires as a significant concern. Various state administration bodies participate in preparing the Disaster Risk Assessment of the Republic of Serbia and deliver their scope-specific contributions to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This collaborative approach includes the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management in assessing forest fire risks.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs also manages the Disaster Risk Register, a digital database providing Serbian citizens with location-specific risk data. This tool aids decision making processes regarding living, investments, and timely preventive measures. Decision makers benefit from real-time data, enhancing urban planning and crisis response.

The Spatial Plan of the Republic of Serbia for 2020-2035 resulted in a map of vulnerability to natural disasters, including areas potentially threatened by forest fires. This map enhances awareness of vulnerable regions and guides disaster management efforts.
