The 4th Meeting of the Western Balkan LFM Regional Network took place in Banja Luka on September 17th. This event was organized in cooperation of the host partners the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republika Srpska and the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with support from the Regional Fire Monitoring Center (RFMC) and Farmahem – the LFMWB Regional Executive Agency.
The meeting aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the activities and progress of the LFMWB Programme, to disseminate knowledge related to landscape management from both regional and national perspectives, while also enhancing LFM capacity through field visits to key sites relevant to landscape fire management.
Participants included partners from SDC, Country Partner Institutions (CPIs) from Banja Luka, Belgrade, Podgorica, Prishtina, Tirana, Sarajevo, and Skopje, along with representatives from the RFMC and Farmahem. During the field part of the event on September 18th and 19th, attendees had the opportunity to visit several locations in the Drinic and Bihac areas, observing various landscape fire management cases. This included visits to vulnerable sites previously affected by landscape fires, various examples of landscapes and the National Park “Una”.
All the activities were conducted in the frame of the Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans (LFMWB) Programme, financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and coordinated by Farmahem from Skopje, with backstopping support of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation.
