The 3rd Meeting of the Western Balkan LFM Regional Network of 16.05.2024 (Thursday) – was held in Kolashin, Monte Negro on 16th May, organized by Regional Fire Monitoring Center (RFMC) and The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management.
The Programme partners: SDC (participating virtually),Country Partner Institutions (CPIs), from Banja Luka, Belgrade, Podgorica, Tirana, Sarajevo, Prishtina and Skopje, the Regional Fire Monitoring Center (RFMC) and Farmahem attended the meeting.
The primary objectives of this meeting were to:
- Provide a comprehensive summary of activities and expected outcomes from the two previous LFM Regional Network meetings.
- Present the findings from the GAP analyses, focusing on identifying mutual LFM gaps at the Western Balkans level.
- Summarize and validate the Manual for Strategic Network Coordination.
- Offer an overview of the concept for implementing the LFM Community-based Competitive Fund.
Participants also had the opportunity to observe various cases of landscape fire management through a field visit in the Kolašin area. This included visiting key points of interest relevant to landscape fire management, such as few areas of beach and pine forests affected by fire, as well as the National Park “Biogradska Gora”.
This meeting was conducted as part of the Landscape Fire Management in the Western Balkans (LFMWB) Programme. The Programme is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and coordinated by Farmahem with support from Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation.
